Droop snoot

Lockheed Corporation P-38J
The P-38J (so-called "Droop Snoot"), was typically the lead plane on level bombing missions. The Droop Snoot was equipped with a Plexiglas nose and (replacing the more well-known P-38 fire power of machine guns and cannon) an ultra-secret Norden bomb sight. The bombardier was in the nose. The original color scheme was olive-drab-over-gray camouflage, and was most often associated with the 8th AF in Europe -- although they were also flown in the CBI theater. "American Eagles" covers many of the P-38 variances, including the Droop Snoot.

Droopsnoot
Styled by Vauxhall design guru Wayne Cherry on the Roy Haynes designed HC Firenza, the High Performance Coupe featured lower and stiffer suspension, a Blydenstein modified head, ZF 5-speed gearbox and heavy-duty rear axle; but the most obvious change was that dramatic nosecone. It wasn't just a styling feature - the HPF boasted a drag coefficient of 0.4, and potentially as low as 0.33 with a few modifications - amazingly slippery for a time when most cars were pretty brick-like. The clean lines were finished off with distinguished silver paintwork which predicted modern colour-coding. Sadly, the oil crisis affected sales, and the car was killed off after just a couple of hundred were built.Who knows where the name came from - perhaps Concorde's droop snoot nose? Still, the name and the shape stuck; Vauxhall's next generation of cars followed the Droopsnoot style.

知ってますか?Vauxhall Firenza !
The overall look was somewhat reminiscent of the Renault Alpine A310, and used the same headlamp units.
どうも504用とは異なり、留め金具も全く一緒のよう。英国向けなので左側通行用にレンズカットが変更されているのか?はたまたH2なのかH4なのか分りませんが。。。もっともjust a couple of handred were built(204台とか!)という事なので部品はありませんけど。.......
